Simon Severino — Strategy Sprints
The Five Systems Audit is a 20-minute diagnostic that identifies which of the five core business systems is blocking your growth.
Founders score five systems on a scale of 1 to 10: Attention, Nurturing, Closing, Retention, and Expansion. The lowest score is always the bottleneck. Everything else is blocked until that system improves. The audit is the first step before building any AI agent, because building the wrong agent first wastes weeks and produces no leverage.

The Attention System generates awareness and attracts ideal leads. It includes cold outreach, content strategy, SEO, social media, paid advertising, and partnership referrals.
A strong Attention system produces 10 or more qualified inbound leads per week without the founder doing manual outreach every day.
Signs it is your bottleneck: The pipeline is empty. You rely entirely on referrals. Cold outreach is manual and inconsistent. Content exists but reaches fewer than 1,000 people per week.
The Nurturing System converts awareness into trust. It includes email sequences, social media engagement, podcast appearances, case study distribution, and ongoing content that positions you as the authority.
A strong Nurturing system means leads who entered your world 90 days ago are still engaged and moving toward a conversation.
Signs it is your bottleneck: Leads go cold after the first touchpoint. Email open rates are below 25%. You have no follow-up sequence. Prospects say "I will think about it" and disappear.
The Closing System converts trust into signed clients. It includes your discovery call process, proposal format, pricing presentation, objection handling, and contract process.
A strong Closing system closes at 40% or higher on qualified calls. Proposals go out within 24 hours of a discovery call. Follow-up is systematic, not reactive.
Signs it is your bottleneck: Close rate is below 20%. Proposals take days to write. You lose deals to "we decided to go in-house." You hate writing proposals because they take too long.
The Retention System keeps clients engaged, delivers results, and builds the relationship that generates expansion revenue. It includes onboarding, regular check-ins, success tracking, and community.
A strong Retention system means clients renew without negotiation, refer without being asked, and expand their engagement in months 3 to 6.
Signs it is your bottleneck: Clients disengage after month 2. Churn is above 10% monthly. You spend more time on delivery than on growth. Clients have to chase you for updates.
The Expansion System grows revenue from existing relationships through referrals, upsells, cross-sells, partnerships, and licensing. It is the most capital-efficient growth channel because the cost of acquisition is nearly zero.
A strong Expansion system means at least 30% of new revenue comes from referrals or existing client upsells.
Signs it is your bottleneck: All growth comes from cold outreach. Happy clients never refer. You have never offered a second product to an existing client. No partnership revenue.
Score each system honestly on a scale of 1 to 10. Use this guide:
In this example, Attention scores 3. That is the bottleneck. The business has a great retention system but no reliable pipeline. The first AI agent to build: a daily prospecting agent that identifies 5 ideal clients, researches their pain points, and drafts a personalized first-touch email.
Building a better retention agent here would produce zero new revenue. The bottleneck is upstream.
I created the Five Systems Audit after watching hundreds of founders make the same mistake: they try to fix everything at once. They read about AI agents, get excited, and start building ten things in parallel. Six months later, they have a lot of half-finished automations and the same revenue problem they started with.
The audit forces a different question. Not "what can I automate?" but "what is the one thing that, if fixed, would unlock everything else?"
That is the agent to build. That is the constraint to remove. Direction + Speed = Velocity. A fast agent aimed at the wrong system produces no velocity. It produces noise.
The Jetpack Series, my 9-month AI agent curriculum for B2B founders, is sequenced around the Five Systems. Each month installs one layer of the system:
The sequence is not arbitrary. It mirrors the audit results across 500+ B2B founders. Attention and Closing are the most common bottlenecks. They come first. Content and retention come after because they amplify a system that is already working, not fix one that is broken.
